How I Rocketed This HVAC Page to #1 in Organic Google Searches
First things first.
A-Temp's HVAC website was in disrepair due to neglect and lack of vision. There were words on the pages, but no SEO strategy, no blog strategy - basically, no strategy. The company had been around for over 50 years, but the website was still very much in its infancy.
I was tasked with working with the SEO specialist to develop an on-page SEO strategy to help this site compete. The specialist focused on technical and off-page SEO, and I took over the on-page SEO strategy.
My On-Page SEO Strategy
In this example, an AC Repair Page, I did the following:
- Performed exhaustive keyword research and placed the keywords in key places throughout the page, including the URL, metadata, headings, body, and CTA.
- Positioned this page as a pillar page, with multiple internal links directing to and from the page. Notice that the keywords are placed strategically on anchor text and link to relevant pages.
- Organized the content so that it's readable and mobile-ready. The content is grouped into small, digestible sections, making scanning the page easier for Google and readers. All paragraphs have fewer than 80 words or four sentences. There are bullet lists, headings, and bolded areas.
- Added multiple headings, including H1s, H2s, H3s, and H4s. The headings break up the sentences. When inserting the content into WordPress, the headings made it easier to break it into separate boxes for easier scanning and indexing.
- The Call to Action (CTA) includes all elements necessary for optimization: primary keyword, location, name of the service, and the name of the company.
- The Word Count Exceeds 1,000 words. Most of the competing websites had 500 to 700 words. More wording gave us more opportunities to optimize the content.
- The content is unique and passes both Grammarly and Copyscape. It's also written by a human (me) and is not AI-generated.
